Branching off from DJ topics right now to talk about something that has replaced traditional television and local radio channels for me - podcasts! For those of you who don't know what a podcast is, it's audio or video media that can be downloaded or streamed via the internet and allows an alternative to being locked down to what's on the radio, TV and for that matter even paying for TV at all. With the exception of Smallville (I know right? lol) all of my media is delivered through podcasts.

This is a general list for the applications and podcasts that I'm currently subscribed to. To start off let's start with audio podcasts. I've subscribed to all of these through iTunes and sync them with my iPod Touch, that way when I'm driving, working out or just want to listen to audio I always have new content to listen to (besides all of the new music I'm always getting!). Here are the audio podcasts I currently listen to:

- Above & Beyond: Trance Around The World (Trance Music)

- DJ TED EIEL Presents CHUNKHOUSE (House Music)

- DJ Theo's Deep Soulful House (House Music)

- GROWN n' SEXY Soul Mix Podcast by DJ K.E.L.W.I.N (70's-90's Music)

- iCasual | The Portable Gamer (Game reviews - mainly for iPhone/iPod Touch)

- Onion Radio News (Political Satire/Fake News)

- THE PERFECT MIX :: WED @ 8PM ET (GMT-4) :: WWW.DJ-EROS.COM (Trance Music)

- PodcastForDJs.com (DJ Tips, Reviews and Interviews)

- PODRUNNER: Workout Music (Genre varies - music generally 140-180 bpm)

- Practical Defense (Safety tips for everyday life)

- Sander van Doorn (Trance/Electro Music)

Next are video podcasts - I have the shorter ones through iTunes where the videos are normally no longer than ten minutes long, for longer podcasts and some short ones that look great in HD I have them synced using a program called Miro. Miro is basically a DVR that aggregates internet content onto your computer hard drive and provides a great lean-back viewing experience.

Video podcasts I watch on my iPod:

- The Apple Byte (News about Apple and their products, including some pretty funny skits every once in a while)

- Ask A Ninja (A Ninja answers viewer questions - hasn't been recently updated for a while though...)

- Best of YouTube (Showcases YouTube's most interesting videos)

- Buzz Report (Weekly tech news)

- CNET's Top 5 (Top 5 products and other items, whether bad or good brought to you by CNET weekly)

- Dilbert Animated Cartoons (It's Dilbert - enough said)

- The FilmCow Video Podcast (The guys who brought you Charlie The Unicorn)

- Loaded (Mon-Thu podcast with daily tech news)

- The New Yorker Animated Cartoons (It's the New Yorker comics but in cartoon version)

- Prizefight (Two similar tech products are compared to see who comes out on top)

- Secret Pants Sketch Comedy (Sketch Comedy videos, bad news is it's been a long time since their last video)

- X-Play's Daily Video Podcast (Video game reviews, previews and interviews - if you're a gamer then watch it)

Video Podcasts I watch using Miro (most of these are around 720-1080p HD!):

 - AppJudgment (App news and reviews and a judgement on whether they're worth the download or not)

- Bytejacker (Independent game reviews on multiple platforms)

- CH Originals: CollegeHumor Original Videos (You don't have to be in college to enjoy these videos )

- Diggnation (Weekly podcast which discusses the most popular stories on Digg.com)

- Discovery Channel Video Podcasts (Mainly teasers from different shows on Discovery Channel)

- Film Riot (Tutorials on film making, reviews on products and lots of skits)

- GeekBrief.TV (Daily dose of tech news from Cali Lewis)

- HD Nation (If you're into anything HD you need to watch this show)

- Hidden Universe HD: NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope (Neat podcast if you're interested in what's out there in space)

- INST MSGS (Overly dramatic skits about real life IM conversations, status updates and Craigslist ads)

- Jake and Amir (Two of the guys from CollegeHumor and their short video skits)

- LandlineTV (Sketch comedy group)

- Marine Channel, HD (Beautiful footage of underwater sea life and a great test podcast for HD monitors and TVs)

- Onion News Network (Political satire videos)

- Rocketboom (This show covers a lot of random things from daily news to problems occurring in Africa)

- ROFL (Weekly podcast that showcases the best of independent stand-up comedy)

- Scam School (Cool tricks to show off to your friends)

- Tekzilla (Weekly podcast of tech news and daily podcasts with quick tips)

- The Digg Reel (Showcases the most popular videos on Digg.com)

- The Totally Rad Show (Reviews and news on movies, TV shows, video games and more)

- Web Zeroes (Revision3's first sitcom podcast about a group of guys pursuing internet stardom)

If you're new to the world of podcasts then I urge you to give it a try as there is some high quality and interesting content that is only available online. I would love any comments on shows that you watch or listen to, what you think of my list and if any of you have any recommendations for me.

Look forward to future blog posts about any new podcasts I find and also keep a look out for announcements on updated DJ documents and mixes. Once this summer gets rolling I'll be doing my best on recording and sharing videos and pictures from my gigs.
